Required Questions
Tell us about your first date.
Our first official date was after Michael made his courtship intentions known to Margaret's father. This came in December of 1999. We went to a Chinese restaurant located on 1960 and Champion Forest. The dinner was terrible but the company was delightful. The bright red plastic circular booth with a large tear left something to be desired. The restaurant was dirty. No wonder that shortly thereafter it went out of business.

Tell us something most people don't know about you and your spouse.
We are both missing the two teeth next to our top front teeth (not much chance for David to have all of his. Sorry bud!) We both went to college in Lexington (but two different states- Michael in VA and Margaret in KY). We have traveled to 17 countries together since we were married almost 9 years ago.
What are your goals for the future, both as a couple and individually?
Michael- To put a thousand horses in a barn. To achieve financial independence not specifically retirement.
Margaret- To grow into an ever-more loving wife, to grow old graciously, to read at least half of the 2000+ volumes in our home library, to finish scrapbooking our wedding album from 2000.
Joint- To introduce our children to a dynamic, personal relationship with the Lord, raise them wisely, and provide for their education.

What is the best gift you have ever given to your spouse? What is the best gift you have ever received from your spouse?
Michael- Given? The choice of our house when we have moved and the opportunity for Margaret to stay home with David. Received? The option to keep and supercharge my Cobra, a home subwoofer, and a comfortable leather chair.
Margaret- Given? Gummy bears, his BBQ grill, any artwork (especially the hand-drawn sketches of barns etc). Received? This is tough! Michael is an excellent gift giver. Primarily because he often gives "just because" gifts. Some of my favorites are a turtle boot scraper (He gave this to me on our one month anniversary of our wedding. This was after deleting it from our registry because he thought it was dumb. He then felt so badly that he went ahead and purchased it for me anyway.), a blue topaz bracelet and earring (long but sweet story of a just because present), and the warm beautiful house he has provided for me.
Michael- Philippians 4:6-9 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you." I find this passage very encouraging.
Margaret- I have always hated this questions because I cannot pinpoint any one verse. I have had so many over the years, and God always has a way of pointing out exactly the right verse for the right time...so often, a new verse. I do love the whole book of Isaiah though!

You Choose Questions
If you were a superhero, what would your name and special power(s) be?
Michael- Time Travel. I would love to see history actually occur.
Margaret- Teleportation like Jeannie from "I Dream of Jeannie." I hate driving, being late, etc.

Besides your family, pets, or Bible, what one item would you want with you if stranded on a deserted island?
Michael- A magic lamp with generous Genie included.
Margaret- My wedding scrapbook- maybe I would finally finish it! No, really, I would probably want a camera to document our time spent there and all the great beauty that is sure to be on the island!
What was your favorite item of clothing as a child?
Michael- a red and white #32 shirt that I had as a young boy.
Margaret- A pair of Jams that I desired for months. (For those too young to know what they are, they are long shorts that are pretty ugly and normally in bright, gauche patterns...mine were hot pink Hawaiian.) I finally got a pair at a garage sale and proudly wore them only 1-2 times before taking them to camp. I lost them there and never had another pair.
What was your favorite toy as a child?
Michael- Legos, Matchbox Cars, Hot Wheels, and Transformers.
Margaret- Baskets as hats and wooden spools when really young, Lincoln Logs, Little People (the old fashioned kind), and Legos when a bit older.
What is your top restaurant recommendation in Houston?
So many good choices. Sorry to be unoriginal, but we would have to respond with Perry's Steakhouse. This is one of our favorites! While it is expensive, the atmosphere is great and the food so tasty. The portions are small unless you order the 5-finger pork chop, Michael's favorite.
Michael- Carrots and celery in spaghetti.
Margaret- Peanut butter and pickle sandwiches (Yum!), cream cheese and olive sandwiches (Yum! Yum!), and beef tongue complete with taste buds (a family meal growing up, but Yuck!).
Questions From The Class
What is the best trip or date you have ever been on as a couple? (Submitted by Mike and Suzi Rogers)
Hawaii for a relaxation vacation...that and the beauty was breathtaking! Paris for an all-around best place to visit. We spend 2 weeks touring all famous landmarks and some that aren't so famous (remember, Margaret use to teach French). We lived in an apartment in the center of the city and enjoyed leisurely strolls in the park, picnics of baguettes and cheese, people watching along the Seine, and many dinners in the sidewalk cafes.

What is the funniest or most embarrassing thing you have ever done together? (Submitted by Mike and Suzi Rogers)
About five years ago, we were on our way to a costume party. We were dressed up as Mr. Darcy and Lizzy (from Pride and Prejudice). We were in the Cobra. Michael was revving his engine (but not racing) while another car took off next to us, trying to incite a race. Both cars were pulled over on the side of a busy road by an attentive cop. He required Michael to get out of the car. After seeing how he was dressed, he let us off with a warning (I think trying to cover a chuckle) but not until after sufficient embarrassment had occurred.

During his college graduation valedictorian speech, what do you hope for your son David to say that he learned from you two during his upbringing? (Submitted by Eric Moore)
Self-control, self-discipline, discernment, resourcefulness, to be a man of his word, to be a leader, the importance of strength of character, how to be founded in the word of God, and how to love others.
